Our story

A taste of travel, tinned beautifully.

When I first discovered the gourmet tinned seafood of Europe – the colourful conservas of Portugal, the anchovies of Spain, and all the gorgeous designs – I fell completely in love. There was something effortless about it all: beautiful food, meant to be shared, paired with good company and a glass of something cold.

Back home in South Africa, I went looking for that same experience. What I found were shelves of budget pilchards and imported brands that didn’t quite capture the charm or flavour I’d grown to adore.

So, I created Otto, a brand that brings that same quality taste, design, and joyful spirit to our tables at home.

Otto is about more than tinned fish. It’s about the art of eating well, simply. We round up gourmet tins and table supplies that make it easy to gather, share, and savour – whether you’re at the beach, sharing a board, or around the kitchen table.

Why tins?

I love tins because they’re clever – and they keep food tasting incredible.

  • Flavour locked in at its peak: Each fish is caught and tinned when it’s freshest, preserving that clean, delicate flavour.
  • Naturally sustainable: Canning is one of the most efficient, low-impact ways to preserve food – no cold chain, no waste.
  • Endlessly recyclable: Every Otto tin can be recycled forever.
  • Small fish, big impact: Sardines and anchovies reproduce quickly, making them a smart, ocean-friendly source of protein.

Otto celebrates this old-world method with a modern touch – beautifully designed, sustainably sourced, and crafted for the way we eat today.

My commitment

Otto is my way of bringing a little more joy, flavour and design to everyday eating.
I hope you’ll join me – open a tin, build a board, share it with the people you love.

Because good food should be simple, beautiful, and shared.
